Jeremiah and I are both laid back creative types. He’s a musician, I’m a writer and designer. We’re both a little quirky and love to entertain. We basically wanted our wedding to feel like a big fancy dinner party. We imagined a folksy and intimate evening where some of our closest friends and family could put on their dancing shoes, drink some good wine, and celebrate with us. To make the evening feel more intimate, we had live folk band Handsome and Gretyl, we served a family style dinner, and we had a self-serve bar where guests could mingle. As for style/theme, I was going for sort of a “backyard bohemian dinner party” vibe. We incorporated rustic elements like farm tables and wild greenery, and paired it with more elevated details found in the silver candelabras and serving platters. I’m in love with autumn so naturally I wanted to incorporate fall colors but in a chic and modern way. We used champagne, lavender, gray, navy, and shades of pink.
I loved our cocktail hour. The atmosphere was so conversational and intimate. Our band was playing in the background, everyone was getting their wine and chatting. After the ceremony, Jeremiah and I opted out of the grand entrance and just wandered around the lawn and hung out with everyone. I met a bunch of his out-of-state friends and co-workers for the first time and I loved being introduced as his wife. We were so giddy.
