Styled | Golden Gardens - Editorial Modern Elopement
Golden Gardens is a beautiful beachfront park in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard. Known for its epic, golden sunsets and near-panoramic views of the Puget Sound, the park was the perfect backdrop for our elopement editorial shoot.
When preparing for this shoot, we were inspired by the natural colors and textures of the beach, including the wild grasses, sand, and other vegetation. When working with such a tonal, monochromatic canvas, you can make a big impact through juxtaposition—a pop of color, a contrast, or something unexpected.
There is a time and place for a large, cascading bouquet, but there is also beauty in restraint. We loved this bold, autumnal bouquet made with mauve lisianthus, chocolate cosmos, and other local ingredients. We intentionally focused on using small blooms for this bouquet—no garden roses, dahlias, or peonies in sight. Our bride’s bouquet provided the perfect pop of color to make a statement.
Ghost chairs were an absolute must for this shoot. Not only do they provide a very current, modern element, but they also let the natural beauty of our ceremony site shine. The focus is entirely on the couple, making the event feel all the more intimate.
This tablescape was so fun to make. We created a long garland installation using a variety of foliages to create interesting colors and textures. We feel very strongly that greenery does not need to be boring. Some of our favorite ingredients to work with come in the form of grass, buds, shrubs, and trees branches.
Good lighting can make all the difference when it comes to wedding photography. When your photographer asks if they can steal you away for some sunset photos during dinner—say yes! These photos speak for themselves.
